Markus studied Law at Munic University. He began his career working in a mixed patent and general law office, where he specialised in all aspects of industrial property law. After subsequently working for a time in a boutique specialising in industrial property law, he moved in 2000 to PricewaterhouseCoopers Veltins, the legal arm of the international accountancy and auditing firm. Since May 2006, Markus has been a partner at avocado rechtsanwälte.

Markus advises nationally and internationally operating companies in all aspects of industrial property law, with focus on the registration side and the administration of all industrial property rights. He not only takes care of non-technical property rights (marks, registered designs), but also handles the registration of technical proprietary rights (patents, utility patents) at national (DPMA) and international level (European Patent Office and PCT procedure). A further key activity of Markus is the provision of strategic advice to business enterprises in all application and registration procedures for obtaining worldwide protection of their intellectual property.

Markus has distinguished himself by numerous publications and lectures in his special field.
