After an apprenticeship in banking, Carsten studied Law at the Free University of Berlin. Before his admission to the bar, he had worked from 1988 to 1991 as a research assistant at the professorial chair for Civil and Banking Law of Prof. von Stebut at the Free University of Berlin. During this time he also worked for two and a half years in a medium-sized tax consulting and auditing firm. In addition, he practiced for a year in an international business law firm in Frankfurt am Main. In 1992 Carsten established the Berlin office of avocado rechtsanwälte.

Certified Specialist Lawyer for Tax Law (“Fachanwalt für Steuerrecht”) since 1994.
Admitted as a Notary since 1997.

His practice areas include the structuring and management of large public housing privatisations as well as the legal management of projects involving the site location of large industrial enterprises for American investors. Carsten advises on the reorganisations of larger medium-sized enterprises as well as on the real estate acquisitions by large American investment funds.

Moreover, he provides on-going legal advice to medium-sized enterprises in the areas of corporate and tax law.
