Matthias studied Law in Bonn. He was subsequently employed by the Public Trusteeship Authority (“Treuhandanstalt”) in Berlin, before he joined the Cologne office of avocado rechtsanwälte as a lawyer.

Certified Specialist Lawyer for Labour Law since 2001.

Matthias supported medium-sized enterprises in extensive labour law related reorganisation measures including the representation of legal interests in litigation. The solution of problems related to works constitution law vis-à-vis the works councils as well as the representation of interests vis-à-vis the respective unions was the main focus of his work.

Moreover, the representation of interests of various regional power companies, in particular in connection with issues arising from the ever-changing general legal framework of the energy market, forms part of his practice.
