After a traineeship as a merchant in Mülheim/Ruhr at the world´s leading distributor of chemicals Heiko studied law between 1993 and 1997 at the university of Regensburg with the focus on economy law. He was a clerk at court between 1997 and 1999 in Regensburg and Nuernberg. In addition, he studied political science and musicology at the university of Regensburg.

Since January 2000 he is admitted to the bar.

Heiko started his carreer in December 1999 as a counsel in the legal department of a major German Mortgage Bank. He left the bank in summer 2007 as deputy head of the legal department and the board´s secretariat in order to work as Director Legal & Compliance with a mediumsized investment services company, active in the European countries outside Germany.

In January 2008 Heiko joined the Berlin team of avocado rechtsanwälte.

Based on his experience during his banking activities Heiko’s practice areas are banking law and real estate law. Inter alia he was responsible for the legal counseling of the board of directors and the different operating departments on all legal issues as well as for the court´s proceedings supported by external lawyers. He has also a large expertise regarding questions of banking supervisory law as well as compliance.

In 2000, Heiko completed the special laywer course in labour law and is – due to his past and current expertise – familiar with all aspects of individual and collective labour law, in particular in large – scale enterprises.
